Rules were meant to be broken, and as someone who was forced to wear a school uniform for all but two years of my pre-college education, I know this mantra rings especially true when it comes to clothing.
“Don’t wear black and brown together. Match your belt with your shoes. Don’t wear white after Labor Day.”
Maybe I’m making Coco Chanel roll in her grave, but I never pay attention to these antiquated rules of fashion; where’s the fun in that? Being the contrarian I am, and with Labor Day upon us, I’ve decided to compile a few looks featuring fall’s least favorite color: white.
I’m a big fan of minimalist trend that peaked this summer, which lent itself to a lot of all-white outfits. While I’m too much of a goth to personally adapt the trend, I’ve drawn monochromatic inspiration from Instagram cuties such as Lil Debbie and what-do-I-wear blogger Danielle Willis.

While I don’t think all-white everything would be a fall success, there are still ways to include white staples into your colder-weather outfits. Here are a few examples I’ve put together. And above all else, remember that it’s okay to break the rules.
